Resumo
The following research aims to investigate the elements of K-pop events in Manaus that encourage artistic freedom and innovation in the performances of K-cover dancers, with a focus on building a more authentic artistic identity that goes beyond simple copying. The study is justified by the promotion of a unique identity within the local K-pop community, seeking to reflect on how dancers can express more of their autonomy and creativity in their performances. The research encompassed as its stages the gathering of theoretical references, the investigation of the K-pop Dance Tournament (KDT) as an event fostering this change, the conduction of field research, interviews with members of dance cover groups who participated in the KDT, and the analysis of the results obtained. The interviews provided a detailed insight into the personal experiences and challenges faced. The results revealed a clear tension between the pressure for faithful copying and the desire for innovation, also highlighting how local organizations, often conservative, end up hindering the creative autonomy of dancers. Data analysis showed that, despite the challenges and limitations, there is a strong desire among dancers to expand their creative possibilities, which shows the potential for a freer and more innovative future in the K-pop cover scene.
