Descompasso do Jazz-Influenced Dance nas escolas de dança Manauaras

Abstract

The overall objective of this work is to understand the development of Jazz-Influenced Dance in Manaus, investigating the influences that may have transformed it in local dance schools. The focus is on the pedagogical and artistic practices of four dance companies: Cia Vilaça, Sete Oito Dance Studio, Studio Belcanto, and Studio de Dança Ocimara Costa. Initially, the researcher seeks to "investigate the challenges of preserving the essence" of the style, given that it is constantly changing, and to understand its shortcomings, given the external influences that may have diluted its original characteristics. However, throughout the study, it became clear that the pedagogical and creative practices developed by the companies analyzed have promoted a positive outlook for Jazz-Influenced Dance in Manaus. This transformation, combined with respect for its historical roots and the integration of conscious innovations, points to a promising scenario where the style can consolidate itself and gain even greater prominence in the city.
