Abstract

This study is about the Bus Terminal for Passengers – TRP of Manaus and proposed to compare the terminal with the standards established by the Manual for the Implementation of Bus Terminals for Passengers – MITERP. Built in the 1970s, it is the only terminal that houses bus arrivals and departures to various destinations departing from Manaus. The Manaus TRP was designed correctly in the past, but it did not consider the rapid growth of the city, nor the great future demand and the problems that this will entail. The main objective of this work is to analyze the structure of the Manaus TRP based on the guidelines proposed by MITERP. The methodology applied is a qualitative research in which a data survey was made from the terminal to carry out the analysis. Its type of research is explanatory, descriptive, and exploratory with observational and bibliographic field research. As a qualitative research, notes and photos were taken to collect data. Thus, with the result of the analysis, it was possible to observe several negative aspects in its structure and functioning and, therefore, it currently does not fit into the MITERP parameters, hence the need to reform and improve the equipment.
