Resumo
The theme of this research is “the role of tourism laboratories in the training of tourism specialists: a case study of Labotur/UEA”. Were, it was established as a general objective: to analyze, through a case study of Labotur/UEA, how the presence of a laboratory in bachelor's degree courses in Tourism influences the formation of the tourismologist. And as specific objectives: I - Contextualize the tourism laboratories linked to different training courses in tourism and related areas; II – Characterize the UEA Tourism Laboratory; III - Understand how the practices carried out in Labotur help in the development of skills and competences relevant to the profession. The research approach was qualitative and quantitative, where it was analyzed if the Laboratory of the Tourism course (Labotur) of the Universidade do Estado do Amazonas (UEA) had an influence on the academic and professional development of tourismologists who worked or participated in any activity in it, bringing the possible contributions that the presence of a laboratory in the bachelor's course in Tourism may offer. The research subjects are graduates who joined the bachelor's degree course in tourism at UEA from 2013 and who have graduated until 2021 (year of application of the research); students and graduates who interned at Labotur; and the faculty (selected to compose this research). The theoretical foundation of this study comprises Law No. 12.591/2012; Resolution No. 13 of November 24, 2006; internal documents about the course and the UEA Tourism laboratory; articles that address the topic of laboratories as tools for learning and carrying out teaching, research and extension projects; and authors in the field who talk especially about the teaching Tourism. The data collection procedures used were: bibliographical research, documental research and “virtual” field research (for interviews and questionnaire application). The results acquired through data collection demonstrated the contributions of Labotur in the construction of theoretical and practical knowledge of the students who worked in it, including: understanding of practices related to the profession; better resourcefulness in dealing with the public; greater academic-scientific development.
