Resumo

Looking at the reality of people's mental health in the post-pandemic context, we find ourselves with frequent cases of anxiety and depression that do not discriminate against age, gender, sexual orientation, financial status or profession. From this context, this research aims to analyze the impact of positive education and active teaching methodologies in aerial dance in order to assist in the therapeutic process using aerial silk within the non-formal space. Our hypothesis is that, in the teaching-learning process of aerial dance, positive education, just as it happens in formal education environments, can also be an instrument for building self-confidence and well-being in non-formal environments. Active methodologies, in turn, allow for the constant participation of the student in the educational process, where the teacher takes on the role of guide/instructor, building autonomy, initiative and the ability to solve problems through the student's own decision-making. The research is qualitative, exploratory and action-research. Data collection took place at the CTLX (Leandro Xavier’s Training Center) over a period of four months, and arose from the perception of the reasons why the students reported having started (and continued) aerial silk classes. The main authors were Barragán (2016); Gohn (2006); Bortoleto (2008) and Sugawara (2014). As a result, we realized that the benefits of practicing aerial dance, where the aerial silk is the predominant apparatus, can become a therapeutic proposal for the prevention and treatment of anxiety from the point of convergence of the triad: positive education, active methodologies and aerial dance, with its place of development being the non-formal space.
