Resumo
This research proposes an analytical review on the challenges of teaching natural
sciences at Padre Sebastião Assis de Carvalho Municipal School, reflecting on the
initial and / or continuing education of teachers, their challenges in science teaching
and the way they guide their students. in the construction of scientific knowledge. It
discusses the objectives of science education and the challenges present in the
school, presenting a panoramic and methodological vision for the realization of the
teaching of natural sciences. The methodology used was bibliographic research
focused on references and periodicals of the area and field research. The results
highlight the limitations related to continuing teacher education, such as: precarious
education; lack of interest on the part of the teacher, lack of motivation, lack of
equipment as work tools. It analyzes the profile of the science teacher as the one who
will mediate knowledge for his students aiming at learning, having as a challenge the
use of scientific knowledge, educational technologies and didactic strategies that were
often not present in his formation. The conclusions point to the need for continued
teacher qualification training, so that the teacher does not stay out of school needs
without identifying their shortcomings.
