Abstract

This paper presents a case study focused on reducing setup time in a plastic injection molding machine belonging to a motorcycle manufacturer located in the Manaus Industrial Hub (PIM). The study aimed to understand the causes of discrepancies between planned and actual setup times, which compromised the company's production efficiency. Based on this analysis, objectives and goals were set to improve productivity, considering the growing competitiveness of the market. Using the SMED (Single Minute Exchange of Die) methodology, solutions and implementation proposals aimed at optimizing the process were studied. As a result, a quick tool change system was implemented, which provided a significant reduction in setup time and significant gains in operational efficiency. The results exceeded initial expectations, promoting greater standardization of activities, better use of productive resources, and strengthening the culture of continuous improvement in the organization.
