Resumo

This study analyzed the hydroponic cultivation of Lactuca sativa L. (curly lettuce) using the NFT (Nutrient Film Technique) system through a case study conducted at Mr. Antônio Azevedo's farm, located in the Novo Horizonte community in the municipality of Tabatinga, Amazonas state. The research sought to understand the stages of hydroponic management, from seed germination in phenolic foam to harvest, observing the system's efficiency and yield utilization. The methodology included direct observations, photographic records, and weekly monitoring over a complete thirty-day cycle, in addition to analyzing the preparation of the nutrient solution with macro and micronutrients. The results demonstrated an average yield utilization of 80% to 90% of the yield, with minimal losses, reinforcing the viability of the NFT system in the region. It was also found that the technique offers advantages such as water savings, precise nutritional control, and low labor requirements. It is concluded that hydroponic cultivation, when well managed, can be a sustainable and productive alternative for small properties in the Amazon region.
