Abstract

In order to achieve the best performance in the performance of professional dance activities, the analysis of the biomechanical variables of the dancers is essential. Specifically, the characteristics of the foot as the base and fundamental support of the body are of essential importance in the development of the dancer's body movements. In this qualitative-quantitative field research, the objectives were to evaluate the characteristics of the plantar arches and the distribution of plantar pressure in professional dancers of the Amazonas Dance Corps. The research was done with 16 subjects of the company, 7 men and 9 women, aged between 23 and 41 years; for the plantar impression we used the pedigraph equipment. We classified the types of feet according to Staheli's index. For the analysis of plantar pressure, baropodometry was performed. The plantar pressure was analyzed in bipodal position with eyes open and closed, and the plantar impression was collected in bipodal position with eyes open. The types of normal feet were predominant in the CDA dancers; in the bipodal position with eyes open the highest incidence of plantar pressure was located in the posterior segment of the right foot and in the bipodal position with eyes closed there was a higher incidence in the posterior segment of the left foot.
