Resumo
The Conservation Units (CUs) are protected areas that conserve socioenvironmental resources and biodiversity within their territorial boundaries. In this study, the research site is a Tupé Sustainable Development Reserve (RDS), a CU located in the rural area of the municipality of Manaus, which has 06 communities. The study was conducted in the São João do Tupé community, and according to your Management Plan has the detailed conditions for public use. Although tourism is a permitted practice and encouraged in certain protected areas, its action needs to be planned and monitored correctly, so that the results generated are beneficial to the environment and the communities involved. Thus, counting on the participation of community residents as research subjects, the objective was to characterize the tourism and leisure activities of the São João do Tupé community through the perception of the community. In its specificities, in order to research the general objective, we sought to identify the attractions in the community from the viewpoint of the community; diagnose community thinking about the challenges and perspectives of tourism and leisure; and highlight the benefits of sustainable tourism for the community from the literature. To obtain the results expected in the research, methods and alternatives that involve the comprehensiveness of documents and objects are necessary. Thus, the exploratory-descriptive research used the qualitative approach, and included fieldwork, informal conversations, semi-structured interviews and observations made during visits to the São João do Tupé community, from a dialectical approach. The work highlighted the potentialities of the community, such as the natural landscape, culture and way of life of the community, in order to promote tourism and leisure in partnership with the community and their natural and cultural resources, as well as awakening in residents. the feeling of belonging and revealing the importance of conservation of UC.
