Resumo
Classical ballet, recognized for its intrinsic fusion of art and technique, imposes physical and psychological demands on its practitioners, placing them on the same level of rigor as elite athletes. However, this artistic practice is strongly associated with high rates of musculoskeletal injuries, predominantly in the lower limbs, resulting from repetitive strain, technical inadequacies, and insuficiente physical conditioning. This study aims, through and in-depth literature review, to examine the relationship between physical conditioning and the mitigation of injuries in classical ballet , emphasizing the intrinsic and extrinsic factors that exacerbate such conditions. Furthermore, it explores the importance of complementary exercises, such as Pilates and strenght training, in injury preventions, technical improvement, and the extension of dancers’ careers. The physical conditioning alongside classical ballet practice is essential not Only for reducing injury risks but also for enhancing technical performance and promoting significance of raising awareness about preventive practices and the presence of specialized professionals in dance companies as indispensable measures for safer and more effective training. The study reinforces the interconnection between physical, social, and psychological aspects in the performance and wellbeing of ballet dancers.
