Resumo
Malaria is considered an epidemiological disease caused by protozoan of the genus
Plasmodium and transmitted through the bite of the Anopheles mosquito. The Brazili
an region with the highest incidence of malaria in Brazil is the Legal Amazon. This hi
gh incidence is due to the ideal geographic conditions that enable interaction betwee
n the hosts, the transmitter and vector causing malaria. In the Amazon, municipalities
largely have a diverse culturally distributed population in urban, rural and villages wit
hin the perimeter. of the municipalities. In this context in southern Amazonas, the mu
nicipality of Manicoré has a high incidence of malaria cases, however the incidence d
ata inserted in the SIVEP system are underused to identify priority groups that need i
mmediate actions to fight the disease. Given this problem, this research aimed to ana
lyze the epidemiological situation of Malaria in the municipality of Manicoré / Am from
2014 to 2017. From the survey of the incidence of malaria in rural, urban and indigen
ous villages of the municipality of Manicoré in the period from 2014 to 2017; as well a
s the incidence of malaria caused by Plasmodium falciparum and Plasmodium vivax i
n the population of rural, urban and indigenous villages from 2016 to 2017 and the rel
ationship between Madeira River outflow and malaria incidence in the municipality of
Manicoré. The results show that the total number of cases of malaria in the years fro
m 2014 to 2017 is considered low when compared to other municipalities of Amazon
as. Moreover, rural residents are the most affected by this disease, being the type of
Plasmodium that most affects the population of the municipality of Manicoré P. vivax.
River level and malaria positivity may be related to extreme flood or drought events.
