Resumo

Edited by Silvia Maria de Oliveira and Dimas José Lasmar, this book brings together memoirs, oral histories, and documentary records on the historical, political, social, and economic development of the municipality of Jutaí, in the interior of Amazonas. With a focus on the second half of the 20th century, the book traces the history of settlement in the Amazon region, the impact of the rubber boom and river navigation, as well as the intense behind-the-scenes dynamics of local politics marked by rivalries, alliances, and the role of pioneering patriarchal families. Through reminiscences, folk tales, and socioeconomic data, the publication preserves the cultural identity and collective memory of the people of Jutaí while paying tribute to the figures who helped shape the municipality.
