Resumo

The Festival of Parintins, municipality of Amazonas, can be defined as a set of manifestations of the popular culture of a certain people, as it incorporated dances, tales and rhythms in its choreographic performances. The concept of culture, in this work, is understood from Stuart Hall (2002), when he perceives the identity dynamics that occur in cultures, regardless of time. However, in Boi de Parintins, the choreographies were summoning new information and body techniques over time, and in a way contaminating their identity roots, suffering a certain artistic standardization different from the original culture of Parintins. In this context, the general objective of the research is to investigate the choreographic processes of the boi bumbá caprichoso dance body for the stage and its relevance with the cultural memory of Parintins, the specific objectives being: to study aspects of the culture of Parintins and to identify its relations with the publicized material about choreographies of the capricious ox. This study demonstrates dance, as body culture, art and expression of collective memory, evokes the past from expressions of the present. Memory is the human ability to retain and keep past time, saving it from disappearing. In these terms, art dances with its artistic gestural forms, writing in the air the cultural memory historically accumulated by humanity. Keywords: Parintins Folk Festival
