Resumo
This work is a qualitative research project focusing on the need to understand the 8th grade art curriculum, focusing on the language of the body from the perspective of the Decoloniality subscribed to in Law 11.645/2008 and the teaching/learning process in a public school, considering the cultural experiences related to African and Afro-Brazilian history through art/dance. This law provides for the teaching of the history and culture of African, Afro- Brazilian and indigenous Brazilian peoples throughout the school curriculum to be taught in the areas of art education, literature and Brazilian history. This exploratory-descriptive study was carried out with seven students using semi-structured interviews and free observation. It was based on pertinent literature, as well as documents, laws and guidelines on Brazilian education, the systematization of which led to data analysis, developed in a descriptive manner, the aim of which was to expose the characteristics and phenomena of the culture of a singular population. In the course of the research, it emerged that the laws that guide the rights of African and Afro-Brazilian peoples are discontinuous and fragmented in the field of art/dance. The characteristic traits, their acceptance, prejudice and discrimination in the school environment, dance as a method of knowledge based on the bodies of students, especially those with black skin, in order to understand the intersection of Afro-Brazilian culture and the practice of belonging in school.
