Resumo

This article addresses the absence of African and Afro-Brazilian culture at the Armando de Souza Mendes State School in Ipixuna-AM, based on research conducted during a supervised internship II. The research will include interviews with a school educator, a history teacher, and a third-year high school student, with the participants' consent. The text highlights the importance of the law that, since 2003, has mandated the teaching of Afro-Brazilian history and culture in schools, according to Law No. 10.639/03, which seeks to reclaim the contribution of Black people to the formation of Brazilian society, and the need to ensure compliance with this law in schools. During the supervised internship II, the lack of events related to African and Afro-Brazilian culture at the school was noted. This article will be developed during Black Awareness Week and aims to investigate the reasons for the non-application of this law, analyzing the Political Pedagogical Project (PPP) and the interviews conducted.
