Resumo

This study analyzes the results of a didactic sequence on medicinal plants, developed with Basic Education students, aimed at promoting traditional knowledge and raising awareness about the sustainable use of natural resources, with a view to contributing to the appreciation of local culture and the development of inclusive and contextualized educational practices. The research was conducted in a public school in the municipality of Parintins-AM with 7th-grade students of Elementary School. The methodology follows a qualitative approach, and the data collection instruments included a literature review and the application of a didactic sequence composed of a conversation circle, theoretical class, plant collection and identification, production of drawings and texts, and the creation of a herbarium collection. The research data were analyzed through discursive textual analysis. The results showed that the students already possessed prior knowledge about the use of medicinal plants, acquired mainly within their families. The integration of this knowledge with school content fostered meaningful learning, enabling the recognition of the cultural, therapeutic, and scientific value of medicinal plants. It is concluded that the dialogue between traditional and scientific knowledge enriches Science education and contributes to the appreciation of local culture.
