Resumo

This study aimed to investigate the relationship between food and the performance of a dancer in the language of contemporary dance, having as target audience a professional of contemporary dance active in the city of Manaus, Amazonas. Starting from the importance of food associated with dance, the need for knowledge about the body in its complexity, including its behavior and eating habits, its shortage and wear and tear being supplied by the functions of macronutrients and micronutrients, finally the feeding of a related dancer to an athlete. It is a qualitative-descriptive research in which a questionnaire was carried out through the Google Forms platform. Data were acquired through a food frequency interview that indicated how the dancer's food is and how they care about it. The information acquired was limited, but it was noted that there is concern about food, even without expert support or meticulous information. Thus, it was also possible to evaluate data regarding their body composition and metabolic expenditure. It brought the promotion of the need for food intake in a more specific way for the individual, which can later be applied to a group, so that food has more attention and acts in a more significant and positive way.
