Resumo
This research has as main objective to observe the difficulty of reading and interpreting texts in a 6th grade class in a public school in the city of Manicoré/AM. It is known the importance of reading and interpretation in the course of the student's academic life, both in large-scale exams and in everyday life, such ability must be developed from the initial series. We developed this research so that, through our previously mentioned general objective, we could arrive at some answers about the difficulty of reading and interpretation in basic school. The methodology adopted was that of qualitative research, where we used techniques such as an open and closed questionnaire and observation, applied with 6th grade students from a public school. We analyzed the data through the descriptive and analytical techniques of Bardin's content analysis (2016), where the data were crossed with references and official education documents. The results indicate that most students have difficulty interpreting the text due to lack of reading, or lack of taste for reading. Since of the categories elaborated, group IV Frozen corresponds to the group of students who do not have difficulties in text interpretation, with the very low percentage of 13%. On the other hand, 43% of the students participating in the research say that they like to read sometimes only at school, we call this group Alerquina. In the data, it emerges that contact with reading at home is rarely mentioned, that in fact contact with reading occurs sporadically at school. The school reality in this case shows that there is a need to develop didactic strategies that seek to alleviate the difficulty of students in relation to the interpretation of texts, whether through comics, mental maps, reading corner, or partnerships between school and parents , as an incentive to read at home.
