This research proposed the use of costumes as a mThis research proposed the use of costumes as a methodological tool in teaching dance in schools, integrating somatic and creative aspects of movement. The main objective was to develop pedagogical practices that would increase body awareness stimulate artistic expression, strengthen self-confidence and encourage teamwork. By combining dance and costumes as complementary elements, the aim was to improve body perception, encourage creativity and promote collaborative skills. The relevance of this approach is based on the expansion of the students’ bodily and artistic perceptions, whose training is predominantly centered on classical ballet.Costumes were explored as na interdisciplinary element, capable of enriching artistic expression and contributing to a more inclusive and reflective education, expanding pedagogical and creative possibilities in the school environment. Based on a qualitative approach, the research was exploratory in nature and had a field and participatory design. Four practical classes were held with three students, three of which were repeated, lasting one hour each, on Tuesdays and Thursdays. These activities allowed direct observation of the interactions between body, costume and education, promoting reflections on the creative and pedagogical process. The theoretical framework included Laban and Miller, who address body awareness and the relationship between body and movement, Roche, Oliveira and Castilho, who explore costume as a cultural and social resource, and Marques and Tadra, who highlight dance as a transformative artistic language in the school context. The integration of these perspectives resulted in na innovative methodological proposal, capable of promoting significant learning and transformations in dance teaching. As final considerations, this process demonstrated that the art of dance is not limited to body expression on stage, but encompasses a broad educational and collaborative process that shapes artists, technicians and creators.
