Abstract

This article recounts the experiences of riverside women from the Nossa Senhora da Paz Community, where a river of stories reflects their memories of struggle and work. The objective is to identify the work these women perform, contextualizing their life stories and the importance of their experiences. Oral history is used as the primary source, based on the life testimonies of riverside women, with relevant perspectives from local history, addressing the community context and the celebration in honor of the patron saint of Nossa Senhora da Paz. The struggle, work, daily life, and their trajectories are reflected in the context of the appreciation of riverside women, highlighting the importance of recognizing oneself in this social role based on the memories revealed in their accounts.
