Resumo
Teaching in the Amazon offers a wide range of study possibilities that contribute to understanding how
knowledge is built in a space marked by cultural and natural diversity. In this context, the present
research focuses on interpreting and analyzing the narrative discourses of basic education teachers,
presenting, from their daily experiences and educational practices, an overview of continuing education
for mathematics teachers in elementary school, especially their perceptions about the use of active
methodologies in a floating school — known as Escola das Águas — located in a riverside community
in the municipality of Iranduba - AM, between the Negro and Solimões rivers. For this purpose, I rely
on narrative research, using Discursive Textual Analysis (DTA), considering the life stories and daily
experiences of two teachers who emerge from their accounts about teaching in the riverside education
context. We seek authors who discuss narrative research and teacher education to support the theoreticalmethodological approach, including: Connelly and Clandinin (2011), Dewey (1976, 1979), Freire (1987,
1996), Nóvoa (1992, 2020), and Josso (2007). The study, entitled Teachers’ voices from the Escola das
Águas: Teacher training processes in the Amazon context, aims to understand what the teachers who
work at this school say about their continuing education and how their life experiences influence the
development of pedagogical practices with Active Teaching Methodologies in math education. The
methodological path was built through a qualitative approach, supported by participant observation and
narrative interviews. The data analysis, conducted through DTA, made it possible to understand in detail
the teachers’ training processes, their conceptions, and the teaching practices developed in the Amazon
context, contributing to the strengthening of teaching methodologies in riverside education.
