Resumo

This experience report addresses Youth and Adult Education (EJA) as a teaching modality created by the Federal Government that encompasses all levels of Basic Education in the country, intended for young people, adults, and the elderly who did not have access to education in conventional schools at the appropriate age. Therefore, this report aims to understand the challenges faced by EJA students in the teaching of History in High School at the São Pedro State School in Maués/AM in 2023. The research employed the following methodological procedures: bibliographic research in books and scientific articles, and observation during the Supervised Internship, which allowed for the analysis of the theme from various angles and its relation to the theoretical perspective. The study identified some difficulties faced by students that directly impact learning, such as: work, fatigue, health, children, and family. Furthermore, the use of different teaching methods in the subject of History, both traditional and modern, was observed. Therefore, the unfolding of the research shows how much EJA (Youth and Adult Education) as a public policy can contribute to educational excellence in Maués/AM, if solutions are sought for the difficulties encountered.
