Educação, escola e prisão: uma análise das práticas educativas desenvolvidas na unidade prisional de Parintins (UPPIN)

Abstract

This study aims to describe the educational practices experienced by those convicted of justice in the Parintins Prison Unit (UPPIN). In addition, it seeks to show whether the prison parintinense receives educational projects to be carried out with the sentenced, as well as map the number of convicts participating in educational projects and verify how the educational and social projects carried out within the unit have been contributing to the reinsertion of the convicts. In the corpus of this study we brought cutouts built in the Projects of Extension and Scientific Initiation that occurred from 2018 to 2020, in addition to the contributions of theorists such as Foucault (2014), Chiaverine (2019), Onofre (2009) Bitencourt (2017) and Pieron (1997) who helped us in understanding prison as a punitive instance and space that receives educational actions. This is a descriptive study with the phenomenological approach, whose data were collected in the period preceding the pandemic, when the extension research was in locus. The subjects are students/detainees participating not only in the school, but also in other educational projects promoted by public, philanthropic, religious, municipal, state and federal institutions. The analyses provided permeated a reflection on the education provided in the prison, which through the statements of our subjects reveal to us the school/prison context, the role of the school, the educational and social projects, its limits and contradictions that sometimes differ from conventional teaching, sometimes approaching to re-educate and re-enter society the inmates.
