The sample selected for the research consists of 22 clubs from the North, Northeast and Midwest regions of Brazil. To evaluate the sporting performance of each club, its performance was measured over the three-year period. To evaluate the financial performance, data was collected on the Total Revenue, Total Cost, and Total Profit of each club during the period. For this purpose, the Income Statements of the sample clubs were collected for each year of the period. The statistical analysis included descriptive statistics and two DEA models. The first model, using the VRS method, examined the efficiency of the relationship between costs and performance, while the second model, using the CRS method, evaluated the relationship between the inverse of performance and revenues. The results indicated that clubs with efficient financial management (especially those with shareholder participation models) tend to perform better in sports. On the other hand, clubs with high revenue, tradition, and fan base tend to have their financial results boosted by sporting success, which is not the case for clubs with smaller revenues and fan bases. The results of this research aim to contribute to the specific literature on the subject, as well as provide a new perspective on financial and sports management for teams from less traditional regions in football.Item Análise da desigualdade socioeconômica no Brasil: as condições de vida da população nas capitais(Universidade do Estado do Amazonas, 2023-03-30) Oliveira, Joanna Angélica Siqueira de; Neves, Salomão FrancoThis article studies socioeconomic inequality in Brazilian capitals based on the analysis of the living conditions of their resident populations. Given the progress around economic development debates and their streams of thought, and given that South Korea is currently a highly socially and economically developed country, the question arises: If in the panorama of the early 1980s, South Korea had a lower per capita GDP than Brazil, and by the end of the same decade, the Asian country already had an income almost three times higher than the Brazilian one, with such difference persisting to this day, what happened in the 1980s and earlier for the fate of the two to be so different? The research seeks to conduct an analysis of developmentalist streams of thought and a comparison of policies adopted in Brazil with those adopted in South Korea, which, as is known, leveraged its economic development through interventionist policies and the adoption of national companies. Using a bibliographic research, consulting scientific articles and books published in journals, the period analyzed was from 1994 to 2021. In addition to the bibliography, a relative deindustrialization indicator will be used, using data from the World Bank, the period analyzed was from 1994 to 2021. Through these measures, it was possible to validate the results of the policies adopted by the countries and conclude how South Korea, by not accepting dependence on developed countries and adopting active industrial policies, managed to present a much higher industrial performance than Brazil.Item Orçamento público e desmatamento: uma análise do orçamento empregado na função meio ambiente em confrontante ao desmatamento no estado do Amazonas no quadriênio de 2018-2021(Universidade do Estado do Amazonas, 2023-03-28) Barroso Neto, Antônio José de Paula; Souza, Armando Clovis Marques deThe Public Budget is an annual process of planning, executing and controlling revenue and public expenditure. Empirical price analysis is an important tool for detecting anticompetitive practices and is widely used by antitrust authorities. In this context, the present study aims to apply empirical analysis techniques to identify possible evidence of collusion in gas stations in the cities of Boa Vista/RR and Manaus/AM, in the period from 2012 to 2019. To do so, data on fuel prices were collected from the ANP website and analyzed based on two filtering methodologies: the ANP Filter and the Ragazzo Filter. Based on the application of the filtering methodologies, it is possible to infer evidence of cartel practices in the fuel markets of both analyzed capitals. Therefore, the research developed in this study contributes to the understanding of the mechanisms used by cartels in the retail and wholesale fuel markets, as well as to the adoption of effective measures to ensure competition in this sector.Item Ecossistemas de inovação e desenvolvimento econômico: um estudo de caso na INUEA(Universidade do Estado do Amazonas, 2023-03-29) Silva, Ana Cássia Brandão Da; Barros, Felippe Rocha Presado Menezes deIncubators are places where new companies have physical and intellectual support, usually from Higher Education Institutions, so that they can develop their businesses, which are generally technology-based. Business incubators have become one of the strategies adopted in Brazil for the creation of small technology-based companies. Therefore, the objective of this work was to evaluate, through an exploratory analysis, the performance of technology-based companies incubated in an innovation environment. The method used is the case study, and the data were collected from the nine incubated companies, through the application of questionnaires. The analysis of the results indicates that: a) the capacities have their roots in the professional or academic experiences of the entrepreneurs; b) the networking provided by the incubator proved to be fundamental for all companies; and c) infrastructure is important for the initial stages of incubation, but loses importance as companies advance in their incubation stages. In addition, this study demonstrates that INUEA is a good promoter of innovation and entrepreneurship, showing positive results in relation to incubated companies and with a favorable index for growth and local development in the Manaus region.Item Os contratos de impacto social: uma nova alternativa de política social?(Universidade do Estado do Amazonas, 2019-12-03) Saldanha, Emjen Jomaa; Santos, Luciano Balbino dosThe present study aims to discuss the possibility of adhesion of Social Impact Bonds to the Brazilian socioeconomic context. To set the path to this purpose, other existing experiences in countries with similar level of development were identified and an overview of Brazil’s current social policies was presented through the Bolsa Família program. Social Impact Bonds are already practiced in Brazil, while they are still being regulated in the Senate. This serves to emphasize the importance of studying the model’s suitability within the Brazilian public finance ecosystem, especially at a moment of resignification of public spending and the strengthening of liberal ideas. The research characterizes as descriptive and exploratory, making use mainly of primary sources, but also some case studies; As for its approach, it is qualitative and quantitative, containing statistical analyzes around social indicators and Bolsa Família’s data, and also an extensive literature review. While the positive impacts made by current social policies are acknowledged, the perpetuation of regional inequality in the country is also verified, which favors the implantation of alternatives that seek development in an equitable way. Finally, Social Impact Bonds are presented as a more specific financing tool, targeting inequality through direct and strategically mapped interventions on its aggravating elements.
